Just like Liz, there are many middle and high school students across the United States who struggle with reading. Teachers in middle and high school notice deficiencies when students are struggling with comprehension. According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in 2019, only 32% of eighth-grade students were considered proficient in reading in the United States.
